caring for your mala
In order to prolong the life of your mala, it is best to avoid submerging them in water. Because we use natural stones and wood beads, they may be sensitive to chemicals found in swimming pools or the salt from the ocean. Therefore, please remove your beads before swimming, bathing, or enjoying hot yoga, a sauna, or a steam room. If submerged in water, the organic materials, such as wood beads or seeds, may fade or change colors, and the silk tassel may become unruly.
To protect your mala from collecting dust or being exposed to harsh elements, we recommend storing it in the muslin bag provided. This will protect it when you are not using it and will ensure it will last you for a long time. You may also use this bag when traveling with your mala.
cleansing your mala's energy
Mala beads are believed to absorb and store energy, therefore depending on your preference you may wish to cleanse your mala beads from time to time.
We recommend that you do not lend or share your malas with others as not to transfer any energy between users. If this does happen, or if you feel there has been a negative buildup of energy, you may wish to cleanse your mala in a few different ways.
Let your mala be overcome by sound vibration, such as with a singing bowl or chanting

what if my mala breaks?
Congratulations! Generally, it is considered a blessing when your mala breaks. This is seen to be a sign that whatever personal journey you were on has come to a conclusion and any struggles or challenges have been resolved. Under these circumstances, it is recommended that you take this as an opportunity to learn to let go of material things and move on to your next mala, your next intention. A new journey awaits!
However, if you feel that you have not completed this chapter of your journey and would like to continue to work on it, we do offer a re-stringing service for $30. Additionally, all of our malas are protected against any breakage for the first six months after purchase. If your mala should break during this time period, please email us at firstname.lastname@example.org and we would be happy to restring it for you free of charge and get it back to you as quickly as possible.
